Letters to Grandparents
During Christmas, children wrote letters to their grandparents.
These days handwritten letters are quite rare, people prefer more to write emails or send text messages. The grandparents were really happy with the letters they received and the children also had a new kind of experience.
The letter is a good and beautiful way to care about your loved ones.

In Finland, many elderly people are lonely, because their relatives live far away and maybe they live alone because their loved ones and friends are dead.
Suonenjoki-city organizes day activities for lonely elderly people so they can meet other elderly people and participate in guided activities. Some elderly also live in nursing homes.
The elderly like children a lot and enjoy children’s performances and visits. We have visited the elderly with the students many times. These pictures were taken during the Finnish Independence Day in December before corona-pandemia when we visited the elderly to bring them joy and variety.
We sang songs familiar to them with the elderly.
Children also played and danced Christmas songs. It was wonderful to see how elderly people with memory disorders remembered songs familiar from childhood and were able to participate in a common singing moment.
At the end of the visits, the elderly were allowed to talk to the children and the children were offered juice and gingerbread.

In November our students organised a food fund for animals' shelter in Ostrów Wielkopolski. All the students brought loads of necessary and needed things like food, blankets and bowls. Because of the fact that our school is situated in the countryside our students are familiar with taking care of animals and really enjoy events like this. Unfortunately, only a few students could visit the shelter because of the restrictions concerning covid 19. Moreover, they had a chance to walk the dogs and spend some time playing outside.
